House

House dance style

Coming from the clubs of Chicago and New York, house is a freestyle, social dance created by African-American, latino, LGBTQ+ communities. The style is intimately connected to house music, first created by the house godfather Frankie Knuckles and born after the disco era. House dance is for clubbing, connecting, releasing and having fun - it is focused on the freedom of expression, offering all movers a chance to experience the deep music beat and better locate oneself.

House: beginners

People, house music, rhythms, history, steps, drills, freestyle - you will experience a mix of this at every House Beginner class. This class aims to introduce you to house dance vocabulary and technique, history and help you locate your own freedom of expression within it.

These classes are drop-in friendly (meaning you can join at any time); these classes are open to beginners (who never done house before) but will offer more advanced step variations to those more comfortable within the style.

House: OPEN

These classes are designed for anyone with some House dance experience and those who want to express themselves through improvisation. During the training, we will strengthen the body, learn different movement variations and improvisation concepts. You will always be busy with tasks that encourage you to discover new angles of movement and methods of expression.
