Afro
Afro
Africa is a large continent that contains countless different dance styles. It can be traditional tribal dances based on people's faith and their everyday life. Or modern dances, where the same tribal elements, traditional drums, rhythms and sounds intertwine with modern electronic music and vocals. All Afro dance styles are different and it is very difficult to talk about them as a whole, but there are things that connect them all: enchanting music and rhythms, the opportunity to express yourself through dance and be who you want to be.
AFRO: Open choreo
In her classes, Sandra teaches different Afro dance styles and travels to different countries. Sometimes she stays in Angola and dances their intense and super fun Kuduro and Afrohouse. These styles are characterized by fast footwork and fun movements. When dancing Kuduro, you can be a frog, or maybe Aunt Maria or that uncle without a leg who dances better than everyone. And sometimes Sandra travels to Ghana and dances Azonto, as well as the very popular Amapiano style from South African, or Ndombolo from Congo, which was the first to become very popular outside of Africa and influenced many modern dance styles. She also combines all these and other styles in Fusion classes, set to Afrobeats music (performers such as Wizkid, Ayra Starr, Davido, etc.).
This class is for all dancers with experience in any other style who want to improve through the Choreo teaching method, when the knowledge of the topic being taught is combined into a single choreography. The class lasts 1.5 hours, so during it the stepsz and culture are deeply analysed, and then everything is put together into a choreography, which everyone can film at the end of the class.
