Born in the streets of Bronx, New York, Hip-Hop is a freestyle social dance created by African-American and Latino communities. Influenced by previously established forms like breaking, popping and locking, Hip-Hop created its own fresh persona. Danced to Hip-Hop music, this improvisation-based dance focuses on showcasing one’s creativity and personality through movement, while exploring the beat.
People, Hip-Hop music, history, steps, drills, freestyle - you will experience a mix of this at every Hip-hop Intermediate class. Together we will explore the old and new school basics, discuss further evolution of the style - all while locating ourselves within it.
These classes are drop-in friendly (meaning you can join at any time); these classes are open to dancers with 1 year+ movement experience; these classes will offer more advanced step variations based on your level.
